Quorum: 26 Attended

1. Call to order: Marlon Gante, Moderator

2. Devotional: Stepping Into a Need, Pastor Bong Abagon.

3. Established quorum; 26 eligible members attended

4. Reading of Minutes (August Business Meeting); Jo Beltran Church Clerk

5. The body reviewed and approved the minutes 

6. Treasurer's Report by Jenn Gonzaga:

  • A. Income:  $50, 615.15
  •      Expenses: $44,475.55
  • The body approved the financial statement.

B. The body approved that the 2022 Budget be the same as the 2021 Budget at $57,090.00. Most of the ministries have the same budget except the Nursery/Grade School ministry which was increased to $1,600.00 

C. Pastor's Housing Allowance (see agenda link above)

  • The body approved that the Pastor's compensation is designated as a housing allowance of up to $41, 497.81 for federal taxes exemption for 2022.

7. New Business

  • A. The following were nominated and approved by the body to serve.
    • 1. Counters- Sally Flores, Eva Murallos, Carnation Inong, Lourdes Barraca, Donna Roldan and Lolita Carino
    • 2 Children's Church- Katrina Dela Cruz
    • 3. Check Signers: Sally Flores and Joanne Nocasa
    • 4. Youth Ministry- Micah Abagon and Edelyn Barraca
    • 5 Sunday School Directors: Jo Beltan and Joanne Nocasa
    • 6. 24th MFABC Anniversary Committee: Gina Maban, Jun Gante, Jay and Joanne Nocasa
  • B. The body approved the following for Designated Offerings:
    • 1 Church plant- Sta Barbara Christian Fellowship in San Jose, Philippines
    • 2. Education- Center of Biblical Studies
    • 3. Adoption/Church plant- Pastor Rogelio-Aeta Tribe
    • 4. Ministry Partners- Youth Project
8.  Ministry Reports
  • * Men's Ministry- The men meet at the picnic table after service. Discipleship Uncomplicated  Danny Catlin Sunday School for Men.
  • *WMU- Tess Gante The women will meet once a month.
  • *Young Adults and Youth Ministry- Edelyn Barraca 
  • Dec 17th Christmas Party, games, and gingerbread house making with Bible theme. Devotion by Micah.
  • Dec 23rd- Volunteer Outreach- Senior meals at Waipahu
  • * Children's Church- Julie Catlin volunteered to do arts and crafts. Children will sing at the Joint Christmas service
  • * Sunday School- Joanne Nocasa mentioned the need for a teacher for the Youth group. Sunday school needs to start and end on time. 
  • * Praise and Worship- Jay Nocasa Rotation of the group for Worship.
  • * Social Ministry- Supplies are in good amounts. Julie and Danny Catlin are stepping down but will still be assisting.
  • *Small group- Training of group leaders to start again soon.
  • *Stewardship- Financial reports will be available at financialreport.blogspot.com

9. The body approved the 2022 Church Calendar presented by Pastor Bong (see agenda link above).

10 The body approved that MFABC will still host the Joint Christmas service next year.

As a Baptist, I am committed to congregational church government. Unfortunately, some churches practice an unhealthy form of church government which does more harm than good. In these cases, acrimonious business meetings are usually a clear sign of a church that has an unhealthy inward focus and is in decline, and such hostile meetings are counterproductive to fulfilling the Great Commission. Thom Rainer comments on this problem: “Church business meetings become arguments over preferences and desires.”[1] While business meetings can be a great cause for anxiety, they need not be.
